plaited farmed sugar kelp (East Coast Canadian kelp)
I have developed a nontoxic process to stabilize kelp.
I was given some young farmed sugar kelp by Nova Scotia’s Ecology Action Centre’s ‘Kelp Kurious’. The kelp was very small and delicate and I wasn’t sure it would survive my process …. but it did.
The farming of kelp is an important new food industry as well as vital to rebuilding kelp beds being destroyed by climate change factors – warming water temperatures and destruction of the predators that normally kept sea urchin populations in check.
